JIwaji Jiwaji University is a residential public affiliating university, located in Gwalior the city of Madhya Pradesh. The name comes from that of George of Shiva Ji Rao Scindia of Gwalior. The Jiwaji University was established on the 3rd May 1964, under the provision of Madhya Pradesh. Government Ordinance no. 15 of 1963. Under the huge Vice President Dr. Sarwapalli Radhakrishanan, the then President of India, laid the foundation stone of the Jiwaji University Campus on 11th December 1964. The sprawling campus of over 225 acres of land at Naulakha Parade ground is a generous contribution of Scindia family, in particular, Kailashwasi Maharaja Shrimant Jiwaji Rao Scindia and late Rajmata Shrimati Vijayaraje Scindia. The main purpose of the university is embedded in its logo 'Vidya Prapyate Tejah'. The territorial jurisdiction of the affiliated extends to six districts of Gwalior and Chambal Division, Gwalior, Morena, Bhind, Guna, Shivpuri, and Data.
