About Punjab Engineering College

Punjab Engineering College (considered to be University) (PEC), in 1921, with its roots in Lahore as Mughalpura Engineering College, in 1953, moved to its present campus as PEC affiliated to Punjab University. Through the MHRD notification in 2003, the institute became Deemed University and in 2009, it was re-named as PEC University Technology. It is a grant-aid assistance institution under the administration of the Union Territory of Chandigarh, Government of India. The Institute has 146 acres spread out and is a sacred complex and it is also the home of the Chandigarh College of Architecture. Academic and administrative procedures are similar to IIT in the country. The institute is governed by a vibrant Board of Governors headed by a vibrant industrialist, Shri. Rajinder Gupta. The institute is led by a director over a period of 5 years; A situation which is equivalent to the Vice Chancellor of Universities. The Institute offers 8 undergraduate B. Tech. Programs and 14 Postgraduate MTech Programs in various disciplines of engineering and technology.
