About Sri Venkateswara University (SVU), Tirupati
Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati established in 1954, in the world famous temple town of Tirupati on the sprawling campus of 1000 acres. Ralalaseema area of the educational needs and the people of the aspirations to meet the late Sri Tanguturi Prakasam Pantulu, the then Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and late Shri Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy. The University was started with six departments of Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Botany, Zoology, Economics and Philosophy. The university offers. 13 courses across 5 streams namely IT, Commerce & Banking, Arts, Science, Management and across 7 degrees like B.Com, MS, MA, M.Com, MBA The University has eight constituent colleges related to different conventional and advanced subjects, in order to provide good academic and smooth administration service. Apart from these colleges, it has a PG centre at Kavali. The University has 58 departments, where 71 different PG courses and many Diploma and Certificate courses are being run with a total academic faculty strength of 400 and 1500 non-teaching and 5000 of a student strength, including research scholars. Several novels and new emerging PG courses have also been introduced during the academic year. The University has been moving forward in achieving academic excellence with a strong commitment and dedicated approach.
