India Wins Asia Cup 2023

The winner of the Asia Cup 2023 was determined in a high-stakes final where India and Sri Lanka competed for the trophy. Team India secured their 8th Asia Cup title by crushing Sri Lanka by 10 wickets, solidifying their status as the most successful side in tournament history. Sri Lanka suffered a dramatic batting collapse, bowled out for a mere 50 runs in 15.2 overs. Indian openers Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan made quick work of the total, reaching the target in just 6.1 overs to set a new record for balls remaining.

After winning the toss and choosing to bat, Sri Lanka was dismantled for just 50 runs. Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj led the charge with a career-best performance of 6/21, effectively ending the contest within the first six overs. Because of this incredible spell, Mohammed Siraj was named Player of the Match. Supported by Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah, India bundled out the Lankans for their second-lowest score in ODI history.

During India's chase, Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill comfortably steered the team to victory, ending India’s 5-year wait for the Asia Cup trophy. Kuldeep Yadav was deservedly awarded Player of the Tournament for his consistent impact throughout the 2023 edition.
