Assam Rifles Vacancy 2026

Vacancies under the 2026 Compassionate Ground Appointment Rally cover a total of 117 technical and non-technical roles. Applicants are advised to verify the post-wise distribution, gender-specific eligibility, and available seat counts for their desired roles.

Assam Rifles Eligibility Criteria 2026

To qualify, candidates must strictly adhere to the educational qualifications, age limits, and specific mandates designated for the dependents of Assam Rifles Personnel. Meeting every criteria is essential for successfully proceeding through the recruitment stages.

Educational Qualification

• Candidates applying for Rifleman/Riflewoman GD must have completed Class 10th.
• For the Warrant Officer Cipher post, candidates must have passed Class 12th. Along with this, they must also have done a 2-year ITI certificate in Radio & Television/Electronics, or hold a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics/Information Technology.
• Havildar Clerk posts require candidates to have completed Class 12th. They must also have knowledge of computers or have typing skills (English 35 wpm / Hindi 30 wpm).
• Candidates who want to apply for any of the trade posts, such as Rifleman EFS, Lineman, Armourer, Recovery Vehicle Mechanic, EMV, Metalsmith, Mason, Store Keeper Tech, Vehicle Mechanic, Engineer Equipment Mechanic, must have completed Class 10th and ITI / Diploma / Industrial certificate in the respective trade from a recognized institution.

Age Limit (as on 1st January 2026)

The notification specifies entry-level ranks for selected recruits: the Cipher post (male only) is appointed at the rank of Warrant Officer, while all other trade-based roles are appointed at the rank of Rifleman.

Special Conditions

• Under this condition, only one dependent family member of the Assam Rifles Personnel may apply for the recruitment. This includes dependents of combatant AR personnel who were killed in action/CI operations, died while in service (including death by suicide), or were declared medically unfit, under Para 26 of AR rules (2010).
• It also covers dependents of permanent civil employees of the Assam Rifles who died during the service period or were retired on medical grounds under the given rules.
• Along with this, dependents of missing service personnel are also eligible for the recruitment. But they must ensure that two years have elapsed from the date of disappearance. They must submit the required documents for the eligibility, which include the FIR copy, the police investigation/closure report, the Court order declaring the missing person, and the acceptance of an authority regarding the case.
• Under the dependent category, the eligible family members include spouse, son, daughter, or legally adopted children of Assam Rifles personnel. In case of unmarried personnel, a dependent brother or sister is also eligible, provided the personnel had died during service or was retired for a medical condition.

Steps to Apply for Assam Rifles Recruitment 2026

To apply, candidates must fill in their personal, educational, and family details accurately, attach the necessary self-attested documents, and dispatch them to the recruitment branch. Ensure you follow the official step-by-step application guidelines provided.

1. Candidates must first download the application form from the official website www.assamrifles.gov.in.
2. Enter your personal information and educational qualifications, which include trade/technical qualifications.
3. Then, candidates must attach the self-attested documents of educational certificates (Class 10th certificate), domicile certificate, category certificate (if required), diploma/Technical/ITI certificate (as per trade requirements), photo ID proof (include only one xerox copy of Aadhaar, PAN, Voter ID, or Driving License), proof of relation with Assam Rifle Personnel, and relevant certificates which proves the death/discharge/missing status of the Assam Rifles personnel.
4. Now, candidates must clearly mention “APPLICATION FOR COMPASSIONATE GROUND APPOINTMENT” at the top of the application form.
5. There is no application fee for any category of candidate.

Assam Rifles Selection Process 2026

The Assam Rifles selection process is a comprehensive, multi-stage rally comprising the Physical Efficiency Test (PET), Physical Standard Test (PST), written examination, trade-specific skill assessment, and a detailed medical examination.

1. PST & PET: In the Physical Standard Test (PST), candidates’ physical measurements are checked in terms of height, weight, and chest measurement (male only). While in the Physical Efficiency Test (PET), candidates have to cover a certain distance by running within a specified time limit.
2. Written Exam: Candidates who are applying under the Compassionate Ground Appointment scheme are exempted from the written test.
3. Skill/Trade Test: Candidates who have opted for trade or technical posts must appear for the skill test. Candidates will be assessed on the basis of Pass or Fail. Candidates appearing for General Duty posts are not required to appear for the test.
4. Document Verification: Candidates will be required to appear before the office of the Director General of Assam Rifles, Shillong, to verify the original documents. In case of any mismatch, candidates will lose their candidature.
5. Medical Examination: Candidates who qualify for the DV will be called to undergo the medical exam, such as knock knees, flat feet, varicose veins, or squint in the eyes, etc. This ensures that only medically fit candidates get the final appointment.

Assam Rifles PET PST Details 2026

Applicants shortlisted for the recruitment rally will first face the Physical Test. This comprises the PST, which measures physical parameters, and the PET, which evaluates endurance through a mandatory running test.

Assam Rifles Exam Pattern 2026

The offline written exam consists of an objective-type paper divided into 4 sections, totaling 100 marks. Candidates have a 2-hour window to complete the paper. Each correct answer earns 1 mark, and there is no negative marking.

Assam Rifles Salary 2026

Selected candidates will be compensated as per the 7th Pay Commission scale. Depending on the technical or non-technical nature of the post, the monthly in-hand salary ranges between Rs. 18,000 and Rs. 70,000+. Benefits include DA, hardship and risk allowances, and other standard service perks.
