The Prelims exam evaluates candidates on English Language, Reasoning Ability, and Quantitative Aptitude. Sectional cut-offs are applied, and candidates must pass each section to advance.

Candidates are allotted a strict 20-minute time limit per section. The exam is worth a total of 100 marks, with cut-offs determined annually based on the difficulty level.

Negative Marking: Both Preliminary and Mains examinations carry a penalty for wrong answers. Each incorrect response results in a deduction of one-fourth of the marks assigned to that specific question. Unanswered questions do not incur a penalty.

Final Merit Calculation:

The final merit list is determined by the following criteria:

• Preliminary Exam scores are qualifying in nature and are not counted toward the final selection.

• Only candidates who qualify for the Mains exam become eligible for the final merit list.

• Aggregate scores out of 100 determine the final rankings, with top-performing candidates in each category being prioritized for placement.
