There is no upper age limit for reserved categories, including SC/SC(A), ST, MBC/DC, BC, BCM, and destitute widows of all categories.
- Age relaxation up to 10 years above the maximum age limit is given to differently-abled persons
- The maximum age limit for ex-servicemen is 48 years. However, the age concession does not apply to the ex-servicemen applicants who have already been recruited to any class or service, or category.

TNPSC Group 2 2026 Selection Process
The TNPSC Group 2 2026 exam follows a three-stage format for Group 2 (Interview posts) and a two-stage format for Non-Interview posts.
Stage 1: Preliminary Exam - An objective-type written assessment. This stage is qualifying in nature, requiring a minimum score of 90 marks to progress.
Stage 2: Mains Exam - A descriptive-type written examination for candidates who pass the Preliminary stage.
Stage 3: Interview (Group 2 Only) - A final oral test for successful Mains candidates.
TNPSC Group 2 2026 Exam Pattern
TNPSC Group 2 recruitment is executed in three phases, while Group 2A services conclude after the Mains examination as they do not include an interview.
- The preliminary examination will be conducted in bilingual mode i.e. questions will be available in both the English and Tamil languages.
- There will be 200 questions for 300 marks.
- The duration of the TNPSC Group 2 Prelims Exam is 3 hours.
- The minimum qualifying mark in TNPSC Prelims is 90.
