UKSSSC Drive Vacancy Selection Process

The UKSSSC selection process consists of two primary stages, with the final merit list reflecting the total performance across both assessments.

Stage 1 — Written Examination (25 marks, 30 minutes): This objective-type paper tests knowledge of traffic rules and general awareness. Qualifying marks are 45% for General/OBC and 35% for SC/ST. Failure to achieve these marks disqualifies candidates from the practical round.

Stage 2 — Practical Driving Test (75 marks): Qualifying candidates (up to 6 times the number of vacancies) will be invited for a practical assessment. A minimum of 50% marks is required to pass, applicable to all categories.

Final Merit List: Rankings are calculated by combining scores from both stages. In the event of a tie, the candidate with higher marks in the written exam takes precedence; if the tie remains, the older candidate is given preference. All selected individuals must undergo document verification.

UKSSSC Driver Exam Pattern & Syllabus

The written exam uses a negative marking system where one-fourth (1/4) of the total marks for a question is deducted for each incorrect answer. No penalty is applied to unanswered questions, while multiple selected options for a single question will count as an incorrect attempt.

Subject Questions Maximum Marks Duration
Driving Rules & General Knowledge 25 (MCQ) 25 30 Minutes
Practical Driving Test 75
Grand Total 100

Detailed Syllabus (Appendix-1): The assessment is divided into three key units focusing on professional and general knowledge.

Unit I — Driver Rules & Regulations (15 Marks): Topics include the Motor Vehicles Act 1988 (and 2019 amendments), Central Motor Vehicles Rules 1989, vehicle maintenance basics, and health awareness regarding alcohol, tobacco, and infectious diseases.

Unit II — Current Affairs (5 Marks): Covers national developments and general current knowledge.

Unit III — Uttarakhand General Knowledge (5 Marks): Focuses on the geography, history, culture, economy, and environmental profile of Uttarakhand.
