Razvan is currently completing his Master’s programme in Culture, Communication, and Globalization in Denmark at Aalborg University. He discovered his study programme through Online Result. We sat down with Razvan to discuss his personal journey of searching for and applying to universities abroad.
"My name is Razvan and I am 22. In 2014, I graduated from the Faculty of History and Philosophy in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, with a Bachelor's degree in Archives Science and a solid background in Universal History."
"At the start of my final year of undergraduate studies, I decided to pursue a Master’s degree abroad. I am now based in Aalborg, Denmark, enrolled in a two-year Master’s programme at Aalborg University, specializing in Culture, Communication, and Globalization with a focus on International Relations and Global Order."
"The idea of studying internationally occurred to me during my second year of university. I was motivated by a curiosity to experience a different academic environment, test a new learning system, and embrace the personal and professional challenges that come with life-changing opportunities abroad."
"Initially, I explored various programmes, though Master’s degrees in International Relations were always my primary interest. I found my current course quite easily while browsing online, specifically through the Online Result platform."

"Secondly, regardless of your destination, ensure you have sufficient savings to cover your living expenses, such as rent and daily costs, for at least six months. The first semester is a critical period for settling into your new accommodation, building a social network, and adjusting to your studies."
"Thirdly, if possible, consult with an agency that assists students with international BA or MA applications to get expert advice or peer reviews. Above all, you need a strong will to succeed. My advice is to be realistic, pragmatic, hardworking, and to maintain a resilient mindset."
"For instance, I funded my stay here using savings from jobs I held during my Bachelor’s degree, so do not be discouraged by the idea of working while you study. I know from experience that it is entirely achievable."
"I highly recommend this university for its problem-based learning approach, which is a fantastic interactive method used across all Aalborg University campuses. For a more comprehensive student experience, I would suggest larger metropolitan areas like Copenhagen. I would rate my overall experience a 7/10, with points deducted for the smaller city environment of Aalborg, the unpredictable weather, and the initial difficulty in finding a student job."
"If I could start the process over, I would definitely begin my applications much earlier, conduct deeper research into lifestyle and living costs, and target a larger city for the full experience."
"My biggest surprise has been how open-minded everyone is, particularly the professors. The student-teacher relationship is very relaxed and egalitarian; we address our professors by their first names. Additionally, the multicultural environment has been a profoundly positive influence."
