Tell us a bit about yourself. What is your name? How old are you? Where are you from?

My name is Jack Nassar, and I am from Rawabi, Palestine.

Where are/were you studying and what programme? What degree and how long is your programme?

I am currently enrolled in the one-year Master’s programme in Political Communications at Goldsmiths, University of London.

Why did you want to study abroad?

My fascination with the UK education system began in childhood, as much of the literature I studied was authored by British writers. Pursuing my Master’s degree in the UK allows me to immerse myself in a world-renowned academic culture and engage with its vibrant, diverse communities.

Goldsmiths is renowned for its academic excellence and critical approach to learning. I am eager to expand my expertise and refine my analytical skills. My professional background—working with Palestinian government officials, business leaders, consultants, and non-profits—has deeply instilled in me a commitment to contributing to peace.

My recent professional experiences have highlighted the significant impact of media bias, lobbying, and political communication on volatile conflicts in Palestine, the U.S., and the UK. Having worked across both governmental and private sectors, I have gained exposure to diverse organizational strategies and global perspectives.

I have always been naturally inquisitive about different cultures, religions, and civilizations. My love for reading, previous studies in the U.S., and extensive international travel have fueled my desire to learn. I believe that true understanding of others requires an open mind and a willingness to embrace diverse viewpoints.

What were your main priorities when choosing your university and your programme (e.g. academics, accommodation, university services & facilities, personal & professional development, city & culture, cost & funding, practicalities, social life)?

I was searching for a top-tier, accredited institution with a strong reputation—one that offered a programme specifically aligned with my long-term career and personal goals.

Was this your first study choice? What other universities did you consider? What was the main reason for your final choice?

After applying to several British universities and receiving multiple offers, I ultimately chose this programme because its curriculum offered the precise focus on subject matter that I could not find elsewhere.

Did you know from the start that you wanted to study in that particular country and city? Why did you choose this particular location?

I was determined to study in the UK, regardless of the city. I chose this specific course because I am confident that it will provide the essential knowledge and practical techniques required to achieve my professional objectives.

Did you find your study programme on Online Result? How did Online Result help you in your decision process?

While I did not apply through Online Result, the platform was instrumental in helping me narrow down my choices. The detailed information and resources provided by Online Result were invaluable during my application process.

Did you take a language test (e.g. TOEFL, IELTS) when applying for the programme? If yes, which one did you choose, why and how was your experience with it?

Yes, I successfully completed the IELTS exam, and it was a positive experience overall.

What would be your advice for students from your country that consider studying abroad?

Studying abroad is a unparalleled opportunity for personal growth, allowing you to immerse yourself in new cultures, cuisines, religions, and perspectives. It is a once-in-a-lifetime journey that I will cherish forever.

Experiencing different ways of life is transformative. It expands your mindset, changes how you observe the world, and teaches you to deeply appreciate the experiences and opportunities you have.

I highly recommend that every student pursues an international education. It is an unmatched opportunity for learning, making friends, traveling, and personal discovery. Simply go for it—you will love the experience.

Why would you (not) recommend this particular city / university? How would you rate your experience on a scale from zero to ten (0 – It was a total disaster, 10 – I had the time of my life)?

So far, I would rate my experience a 10 out of 10. It has been incredible, balancing high-quality academics with the enriching experience of living here.

Is there anything that you would do differently if you could do it over again?

I feel absolutely great and incredibly grateful! Every single day brings new learning and meaningful experiences.

What was the biggest surprise in your study abroad adventure?

I have developed a completely new way of thinking and observing the world.
