Jagadguru Dr Sri Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswamiji, the 23rd pontiff of Sri Suttur Veerasimhasana Math, Suttur, was the architect and founder of J.S.S. Mahavidyapeetha, which came into being in 1954. JSS Mahavidyapeetha is presently running more than 300 institutions starting from primary education to postgraduate and research programmes in the fields of Medical Sciences, Engineering & Technology, Arts & Science, Law, Management, etc., There are about 40,000 students enrolled in the various institutions of the Vidyapeetha with more than 10,000 employees. The Vidyapeetha can easily be described as one of the largest education providers as well as employer in the region. To further strengthen its educational efforts JSS Mahavidyapeetha approached the Government of India to provide the Deemed to be University status to some of its pioneering educational Institutions. Jagadguru Sri Shivarathreeswara (JSS) University was established in 2008 and is located in Mysore, Karnataka. The institute provides medical courses at diploma, undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Additionally, Jagadguru Sri Shivarathreeswara also offers Super Specialty courses and Certificate courses.
- Application forms for various courses is filled online by logging onto the university website.
- For UG course candidates should have passed HSC or 10+2 in PCM and/or English as a subject from any recognized board.
- For PG courses candidates should have done the undergraduate course in the relevant subject from any institute recognized by MCI.
- For MBBS and MD-MS courses, Candidates are selected on the basis of NEET 2018 scorecard.
- Selections to UG and PG Pharmacy courses are done on the basis of Entrance Examination conducted by the University itself.
- For other PG courses selection is done on the basis of qualifying examination NEET PG 2018

For admissions to various courses candidate can access the application form directly from the college website.
- Visit the official website of the university to fill-up the application form.
- Candidates have to scan and upload the latest photograph and signature as separate files in JPG format only.
- After this, pay the prescribed fees via credit card/debit card/internet banking.
- Candidates should take the printout of the application form and affix the original passport size photo to be produced during document verification at the time of entrance test/ counseling/admission process along with originals.
- Documents to be produced in original at the time of entrance test, counseling, and admission:
- SSLC/CLASS X mark sheet
- PUC/HSC/ 10+2/Class XII mark sheet
- Mark Sheet of the last exam passed
- Conduct/ Character certificate issued by the college last studied.
- Caste / Community certificate (In case of SC/ST/OBC category candidates)
- Transfer certificate
- Migration certificate for other than Karnataka candidates.
- Identity Proof (e.g. Aadhaar Card/ passport/voters card/pan card/driving license)
- Six recent colored photographs
