Kannur University was established by the Act 22 of 1996 of Kerala Legislative Assembly. The University by the name "Malabar University" had come into existence even earlier by the promulgation of an Ordinance by the Governor of Kerala, on 9th November 1995. The objective of the Kannur University Act 1996 is to establish in the state of Kerala a teaching, residential and affiliating University so as to provide for the development of higher education in Kasargod and Kannur revenue Districts and the Mananthavady Taluk of Wayanad District. Kannur University is unique in the sense that it is a multi-campus university with campuses located at various locations under its jurisdiction. University is always necessary for providing study and research facilities to promote advanced knowledge in Science and Technology and other relevant disciplines.
Kannur University Admission 2019
Established in 1966, Kannur University is a multi-campus public university with multiple colleges located in the Kannur, Kasaragod, and 7gWayanad districts of Kerala. An affiliating university, it has seven campuses spread across the state under its jurisdiction comprising aided and unaided colleges along with several community colleges. Kannur University offers a plethora of courses in various specializations in the diverse fields of Arts, Commerce, Science, Engineering, Medical to the candidates who fulfill the required eligibility criteria.
- For admission to undergraduate degree courses, candidates must have passed HSC examination of the state or examination accepted by the university as equivalent thereto.
- Admission to bachelor degree courses offered by Kannur University is done through UG CAP on the basis of marks scored at 10+2 level or equivalent.
- For admission to B.Ed and LL.B degree, the students should possess a graduate degree in any discipline.
- In case of MBBS admission, candidates must have passed 10+2 with PCB and are required to have a valid National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2019 score.
- Candidates interested in MD/MS or PG Diploma courses must possess MBBS degree and are required to appear for NEET PG 2019.
- Candidates applying for PG courses must possess an undergraduate degree in the relevant discipline/ subject.
- Ph.D. aspirants must possess master’s degree with at least 55% aggregate in marks from a recognized university.
- For PG and Research level courses, eligible candidates need to appear in the entrance test conducted by the university.
