C.M.J. University has been conducted by an act of (No. 4 of 2009) of state Legislature of Meghalaya as a State Private University and is empowered to award degrees as specified by the University Grant Commission (UGC) under Section 22 of University Grant Commission (UGC) Act 1956 via its main campus with the approval of statutory body. This University has been set up for the North East region in general so that it does not lag behind in the new Knowledge era. Consequently, the CMJ Group headed by Mr. C.M. Jha decided to set up one of the first private university in Meghalaya in 2009. It has been spread on an area of more than 1, 50,000 sq ft with well furnished modern classrooms, fully equipped laboratories, well-stocked library with broadband connectivity and well-qualified faculty. It provides full residential facilities both for students. It has a campus named CMJ University SEMC Campus. The University's situation is in Modrina Mansion, Laitumkhrah, Shillong, Meghalaya. It is located on a 40-acre land area Campus on a scenic hillock in Jorabat on the Guwahati-Shillong Highway. Hostel Facilities - The University provides separate hostel facilities for all students and foreigner students, which are provided within the campus with all basic facilities and security. A senior teacher of the college remains in-charge of the respective hostel for its proper supervision and control. Scholarship Facilities - The University provides assists for exceptional talent and meritorious students in obtaining scholarships from all the Governments of the North East including NEC.
