The Biju Patnaik University of Technology ( BPUT ), Orissa, with its headquarters in Rourkela came into being in November 2002 through an act of the Government. The main objective of instituting the University was to ensure a high quality of students coming out of the technical colleges through a common curriculum and uniform evaluation. Today, the University has 110 colleges, both constituent and affiliated, with around 58,000 students. The disciplines include engineering and architecture, business management and hotel management, computer studies and pharmacy. Several of these offer both undergraduate and postgraduate studies.

Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT) located in Rourkela, Orissa. This state university was established in 2002. The university offers various UG, PG and Research Programmes to the eligible candidates. The courses offered by BPUT are B.Tech, BHMC, B.Arch, B.Pharm, M.Tech, M.Arch, MBA, MCA, and research.
The basic eligibility for UG courses is that candidates must pass 10+2 examinations, while PG aspirants must complete their graduation in relevant field. Those who wish to seek admissions to M.Phil and Ph.D. courses must have completed their post-graduation in the specified field.
