Thapar University* (TU) was established on 8 October 1956 as an Engineering College named Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology. It is a University established in 1985 vide Sec.3 of the UGC Act, 1956 under notification # F.9-12/84-U.3. Thapar University offers Post-graduate and undergraduate programs in Engineering, Science, Management and Social Sciences.

Thapar University is today recognized among the leading privately owned institutions of the country and the best of its kind in the north-western region of India.
The Thapar University offers academic programmes at the undergraduate level leading to
BE/BTech degree, at the postgraduate level leading to MCA, MBA, ME/MTech, Integrated BE-MBA degrees and at the doctoral level, Ph.D. degrees. The university also offers some courses with the collaboration of international institutions to offer world-class education programmes.
Admissions to the Thapar University are conducted through common entrance examinations or on the basis of marks obtained in joint entrance examinations. Shortlisted candidates are then called for counseling.
All the UG courses are four years (eight semesters) long, PG courses are two years (four semesters) duration, and Ph.D. programme for Two and a half year (five semesters).

- Then look for the admit cards link at the home page of the website under “Latest News & Events” section.
- The admit cards link can also be received offline by the applicants provided they visit the concerned university department.
- The applicants should download and print their admit cards in order to carry the same at the time of examination
