CTET February 2026: Over 25 Lakh Candidates Registered for February 8 Exam

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released official application statistics for the CTET February 2026 exam via its official X handle, highlighting a massive turnout of teaching aspirants nationwide. According to the board, a total of 25,30,436 candidates have successfully registered for the CTET February 2026 examination, which is scheduled for February 8, 2026.

25 Lakh Candidates Applied for CTET February 2026 Exam

A record-breaking 25.3 lakh applications were submitted during the 22-day registration window, which ran from November 17 to December 18, 2025. This turnout marks a significant surge compared to previous CTET Exams, which saw 20,25,554 registrations in July 2024 and 16,72,748 in December 2024.

The official CBSE X handle reported, “Registrations spiked significantly during the final three days of the window on December 16, 17, and 18, 2025, with 193,182, 353,218, and 414,981 applicants registering respectively.”

The Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET), administered by the CBSE, serves as the essential qualification for individuals aspiring to teach Classes I to VIII in central government schools, including Kendriya Vidyalayas, Navodaya Vidyalayas, and other prestigious CBSE-affiliated institutions.

The CTET 2026 exam will take place on February 8, 2026 (Sunday), conducted in two distinct shifts. Paper 2 is scheduled for the morning session from 9:30 am to 12:00 pm, while the afternoon session is set for 2:30 pm to 5:00 pm. Based on historical trends, admit cards for the CTET 2026 are expected to be released two days prior to the examination, on February 6, 2026.
