Since the launch of the Agnipath Scheme for recruiting Agniveers into the Indian Army, Indian Air Force, and Indian Navy, the primary concern for most aspirants has been: “What is the official Agniveer age limit?” Initially, the armed forces set the eligibility bracket at 17½–21 years, but this was subsequently revised to 17½–23 years. Through a one-time policy waiver, the Union government extended the upper age limit for Agniveer recruitment under the Agnipath Scheme from 21 to 23 years. Furthermore, the MHA has sanctioned a 3-year age relaxation beyond the standard upper limit for Agniveers transitioning into CAPFs and Assam Rifles. 

Agniveer Age Limit for Indian Army

Candidates aspiring to join the Indian Army as an Agniveer must be between 17½ and 23 years old as of their date of enrollment.

Agniveer Age Limit for Indian Air Force

Selected recruits for the Indian Air Force are designated as "Agniveer Vayu." Eligibility for the Agniveer Vayu batch is restricted to unmarried Indian male citizens. As outlined in the Indian Air Force Agniveer Notification, the specific age requirements are detailed below. 

1. The minimum age requirement for applying to the Indian Air Force as an Agniveer is 17½ years. 

2. The upper age limit for Air Force Agniveer applicants is 23 years at the time of enrollment, provided the candidate successfully qualifies through all stages of the selection process. 

Agniveer Age Limit for Indian Navy

For Indian Navy Agniveer recruitment, candidates must be at least 17½ years old, with the revised upper age limit set at 23 years. Additionally, a 3-year age relaxation is applicable for those seeking future entry into CAPFs and Assam Rifles.
