Unit 1- Number System

Chapter 1- Real Numbers

Fundamental Theorem of Arithmetic: Reviewing foundational work, motivating concepts through practical examples, and formalizing the proofs of the irrationality of  √2,  √3, and  √5.

Unit 2 -Algebra

Chapter-1. Polynomials

Exploring zeros of a polynomial and the mathematical relationship between the zeros and coefficients of quadratic polynomials.

Chapter-2. Pair of Linear Equations in Two Variables

Introduction to systems of linear equations in two variables, graphical methods for finding solutions, and determining consistency or inconsistency. 

Algebraic conditions for various types of solutions. Solving linear equations using substitution and elimination methods, including application-based situational problems.

Chapter-3. Quadratic Equation

  1. Standard form of a quadratic equation ax² + bx + c = 0, (a ≠ 0).
  2. Solutions of quadratic equations (only real roots) by factorization, and by using quadratic formulas.
  3. Relationship between discriminant and nature of roots.
  4. Situational problems based on quadratic equations related to day-to-day activities (problems on equations reducible to quadratic equations are excluded).

Chapter-4. Arithmetic Progression

  1. Motivation for studying Arithmetic Progression Derivation of the nth term and sum of the first n terms of A.P.
  2. Their application in solving daily life problems.

Unit 3 Coordinate Geometry

Review: Concepts of coordinate geometry, graphical representation of linear equations, the distance formula, and the section formula for internal division.

Unit 4 Geometry

Chapter-1. Triangles

Definitions, practical examples, and counter-examples involving similar triangles.

  1. (Prove) If a line is drawn parallel to one side of a triangle to intersect the other two sides in distinct points, the other two sides are divided in the same ratio.
  2. (Motivate) If a line divides two sides of a triangle in the same ratio, the line is parallel to the third side.
  3. (Motivate) If in two triangles, the corresponding angles are equal, their corresponding sides are proportional and the triangles are similar.
  4. (Motivate) If the corresponding sides of two triangles are proportional, their corresponding angles are equal and the two triangles are similar.
  5. (Motivate) If one angle of a triangle is equal to one angle of another triangle and the sides including these angles are proportional, the two triangles are similar.

Chapter-2. Circles 

  1. Tangent to a circle at, the point of contact
  2. The tangent at any point of a circle is perpendicular to the radius through the point of contact.
  3. The lengths of tangents drawn from an external point to a circle are equal.

Unit 5-Trigonometry

Chapter 1. Introduction of Trigonometry

Trigonometric ratios in right-angled triangles. Proofs of existence; motivating ratios at 0° and 90°. Values of trigonometric ratios for 30°, 45°, and 60°, and exploring the relationships between these ratios.

Chapter-2. Trigonometric Identities

Proof and application of the fundamental identity sin²A + cos²A = 1, focusing on simple, standard identities.

Chapter-3. Heights and Distances-Angle of elevation, Angle of Depression

  1. Simple problems with heights and distances.
  2. Problems should not involve more than two right triangles.
  3. Angles of elevation/depression should be only 30°, 45°, 60°.

Unit 6 -Mensuration 

Chapter-1. Areas Related to Circles

Calculation of areas of sectors and segments of a circle. Problems related to area and circumference, specifically focusing on central angles of 60°, 90°, and 120°.

Chapter-2. Surface Area and Volumes

Determining surface areas and volumes for combinations of two solid shapes, including cubes, cuboids, spheres, hemispheres, and right circular cylinders or cones.

Unit 7 -Statistics & Probability

Chapter-1. Statistics:

Calculating the mean, median, and mode for grouped data (excluding bimodal scenarios).

Chapter-2. Probability: 

Understanding the classical definition of probability and solving fundamental problems based on event outcomes.
