MP SET 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Prospective candidates must carefully review the eligibility criteria before applying for the MP SET 2026. Failure to meet the educational qualifications or age standards will lead to disqualification. Below are the specific eligibility details.

MP SET Education Qualification

To qualify for registration, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Passed a postgraduate (Master’s) degree, or
  • Studying in the final year / third or fourth semester of a postgraduate program from:
  1. A university or educational institution established by a Central or State Act, or
  2. A university recognised under the UGC Act, 1956 (Notification No. 3 of 1956).

Academic Qualification & Minimum Marks Requirement:

  • Unreserved / General and OBC (Creamy Layer) candidates must have at least 55% marks in their postgraduate degree.
  • Reserved category candidates (SC, ST, OBC–Non-Creamy Layer of Madhya Pradesh, and PwD) must have at least 50% marks.

Requirements for EWS Candidates:

Candidates falling under the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) are required to have secured at least 55% marks in their postgraduate degree, adhering to current UGC guidelines, similar to the criteria for unreserved categories.

Status for Final-Year Students:

Students currently in the final year of their postgraduate studies whose results are pending are eligible to apply provisionally for the examination.

Verification of Credentials:

  • The eligibility certificate of such provisional candidates will be valid only if they secure the required marks within two years of the State Eligibility Test result declaration:
  • 55% marks for Unreserved, EWS, and OBC (Creamy Layer) categories.
  • 50% marks for Reserved categories (SC, ST, OBC–Non-Creamy Layer, and PwD candidates of Madhya Pradesh).

Eligibility for Ph.D. Holders:

Candidates who have completed their Master's degree and hold a Ph.D. are granted a 5% relaxation in marks, reducing the requirement from 55% to 50%.

Guidelines for Foreign Degree Holders:

Holders of postgraduate degrees from foreign universities must provide an equivalence certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi, to be deemed eligible.

MP SET Age Limit

There is no upper age limit for appearing in the MP SET 2026, ensuring equal opportunity for all qualified candidates to pursue a teaching career in Madhya Pradesh.

  • SC, ST, OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), EWS, women, and PwD benefits are for Madhya Pradesh domicile candidates only.
  • Candidates from other states will be treated as Unreserved.
  • OBC (Creamy Layer) candidates of Madhya Pradesh will be treated as Unreserved, even if they select OBC in the form.

Steps to Apply for MP SET 2026

Candidates must prepare scanned copies of their photograph and signature (file size 25 KB to 200 KB) as these are required for the online application process.
