No, the SBI Apprentice position is not a permanent government job. It is a contractual engagement for a period of one year as per the apprenticeship program guidelines.

SBI Apprentice 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility for the SBI Apprentice recruitment is based on specific criteria, including educational qualification, age limits, and local language proficiency. Below is a detailed breakdown of the requirements:

Educational Qualification (as on 01/04/2026)

Applicants must hold a Bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized university or an equivalent qualification acknowledged by the Central Government.

Age Limit (as on 01/04/2026)

The age limit is 20 to 28 years for unreserved and EWS candidates. Applicants must have been born no earlier than 02.04.1998 and no later than 01.04.2006 (both dates inclusive).

Age Relaxation

 Age relaxation is provided to reserved categories (SC/ST/OBC/PWD) in accordance with the Government of India guidelines.

Points to know before applying online

• Candidates are permitted to apply for vacancies in only one state. Applying for multiple states will render the candidature ineligible.

• Candidature will be restricted to the state selected during the registration process. Merit lists will be generated specifically on a state-wise and category-wise basis.

• Upon selection, candidates will be posted within the circle corresponding to the state for which they applied.

SBI Apprentice 2026 Selection Process

Selection for the apprenticeship will be based on an online computer-based examination and a subsequent local language assessment.

SBI Apprentice 2026 Exam Pattern

The online examination consists of 100 questions to be completed within a 60-minute timeframe. Please refer to the updated 2026 exam pattern for subject-wise weightage.

SBI Apprentice Objective Online Test Structure

The exam will be conducted in English and Hindi. Additionally, test questions (excluding the General English section) will be available in 13 regional languages: Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Konkani, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Oriya, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.

Penalty for Wrong Answers: Candidates should note that for every incorrect answer, 1/4th of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted. Unanswered questions will not attract any penalty.

Test of Local Language

Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking the local language of the state they applied for. A language proficiency test will be conducted for candidates who qualify in the written examination.

Candidates who fail the language test will not be eligible for recruitment. However, those who provide 10th or 12th-standard mark sheets confirming they studied the specified local language as a subject may be exempted from this test.

SBI Apprentice 2026 Salary Structure

Apprentices will receive a fixed SBI Apprentice Salary stipend of Rs. 15,000/- per month for the one-year duration. Please note that apprentices are not entitled to additional allowances like DA or HRA.

  • In-Hand Pay: Rs. 15,000 (Typically, no major deductions or PF contributions are applied since it is a training engagement)
