The SBI CBO selection process comprises a computer-based online test, screening, an interview, and a local language proficiency test. The Bank reserves the right to hold a written examination. A designated Shortlisting Committee will determine the parameters for inviting candidates to the interview stage. The Bank’s selection decision is final and non-negotiable.

SBI CBO Salary 2026
As per the 2026 notification guidelines, the initial salary for Circle-Based Officers is in the JMGS-I scale (Rs. 48,480-2,000/7-62,480-2,340/2- 67,160-2,680/7-85,920). This starts at Rs. 36,000/- plus one increment for every year of previous officer-level service in a Scheduled Commercial or Regional Rural Bank.
Officers are also entitled to Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), City Compensatory Allowance (CCA), medical benefits, and other perquisites, subject to bank rules and periodic revisions.

SBI CBO Career Path
Upon selection, candidates will be designated as Circle-Based Officers and placed on a mandatory 6-month probation period.
During probation, candidates will undergo continuous assessment to evaluate their suitability for confirmation into the Junior Management Grade Scale-I (JMGS-I). Failure to meet performance standards may lead to termination as per the bank's employment policy.
Selected officers join the general cadre and fall under the Bank's standard promotion policies. They are restricted from requesting inner-circle transfers until they either achieve the SMGS-IV grade or complete 12 years of service.
