IBPS RRB 2026 Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the IBPS RRB 2026 Exam, candidates must strictly meet the following eligibility requirements:

Nationality / Citizenship
  1. a Citizen of India or a subject of Nepal or
  2. a subject of Bhutan or
  3. a Tibetan Refugee who came over to India before 1st January 1962 intending to permanently settle in India or
  4. a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India, provided that a candidate belonging to categories (ii), (iii), (iv) & (v) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.
Language ProficiencyCandidates applying for the posts of Office Assistant in any particular RRB are required to possess proficiency in the local language of the State/ UT in which the RRB is situated to be eligible for interview.

Age Limit

For Office Assistant (Multipurpose): Age between 18 and 28 years. Candidates must have been born no earlier than 02.09.1997 and no later than 01.09.2007 (inclusive).
For Officer Scale-I (Assistant Manager): Age above 18 and below 30 years. Candidates must have been born no earlier than 02.09.1995 and no later than 01.09.2007 (inclusive).
For Officer Scale-II (Manager): Age above 21 and below 32 years. Candidates must have been born no earlier than 02.09.1993 and no later than 01.09.2004 (inclusive).
For Officer Scale-III (Senior Manager): Age above 21 and below 40 years. Candidates must have been born no earlier than 02.09.1985 and no later than 01.09.2004 (inclusive).

Officer Scale-II Specialist Officers (Manager) Information Technology Officer
Bachelor’s degree from a recognised University in Electronics / Communication / Computer Science / 
Information Technology or its equivalent with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate. Desirable:
Certificate in ASP, PHP, C++, Java, VB, VC, OCP etc.

RRB Clerk Exam Pattern

IBPS has released the exam pattern and syllabus for all scales. The structure for the Office Assistant exam differs from that of the Officer cadre. The Office Assistant recruitment process consists of two primary phases:

  • • Preliminary Exam
  • • Mains Exam

No interview process is conducted for Office Assistant positions. Final selection is based exclusively on the candidate's performance in the Main Examination.

Note: Sectional timing applies to both the IBPS RRB PO and Clerk Exams.
