Qualifying Marks (Cut-Off) for UGC NET Certificate
To qualify for UGC NET, candidates must meet the minimum aggregate marks: 40% for the General category and 35% for SC, ST, OBC-NCL, PwD, and Transgender candidates. Note that these are baseline qualifying marks, not final cut-offs. The NTA determines subject-specific cut-offs for Assistant Professor and JRF categories based on exam difficulty, candidate volume, and seat availability.
What to do after downloading UGC NET certificate?
Once you have downloaded your UGC NET certificate, ensure you verify all personal details and store it securely. This document serves as your official proof of eligibility for JRF, Assistant Professor recruitment, or doctoral research enrollment.
Candidates qualifying for Assistant Professor roles should retain this certificate for faculty recruitment and document verification processes. Those who qualified for the JRF must use the certificate to secure research fellowships and PhD admissions, as institutions will require this document for eligibility verification.
Validity of the UGC NET Certificate 2026
The UGC NET certificate for Assistant Professor eligibility is valid for a lifetime. However, the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) award is valid for three years from the date of issuance. If you have secured JRF, ensure you initiate your research program or fellowship claim within this three-year window to avoid expiration.
