Eligibility Criteria

RRB Group D eligibility is determined by nationality, educational background, and age. Only candidates meeting the official RRB Group D Eligibility Criteria will be considered. Additionally, CCAA-certified candidates are now eligible to apply under the Railway Group D CCAA Recruitment 2026.

Nationality

A candidate must be one of the following:

a. A citizen of India, or
b. A subject of Nepal, or
c. A subject of Bhutan, or
d. A Tibetan refugee who arrived in India before 1st January 1962 to settle permanently, or
e. A person of Indian origin who migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, or East African countries to permanently settle in India.
f. Candidates in categories (b), (c), (d), and (e) must possess a certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India.

Education Qualification 

  • Candidates with a 10th pass or ITI or equivalent or National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) granted by NCVT are eligible to apply for the RRB Group D 2026 Exam.
  • Candidates with Course Completed Act Apprentices/ITI for the post of Level-1 unless otherwise specified.
  • Those awaiting the results of their final examination of the prescribed minimum educational/technical qualification are not eligible to apply.
  • Candidates who have completed Course Complete Act Apprentices from any trade.

Medical Standards

Candidates shortlisted for Document Verification (DV) are required to clear the Railway Administration’s medical fitness standards to ensure they are physically capable of performing their duties.

Application Fee

Refund Amount (On Appearing For CBT)

  • For GEN/OBC: Out of this fee of Rs 500 an amount of Rs 400 shall be refunded duly deducting bank charges, on appearing in 1st Stage CBT.
  • For SC/ST/PWD/Women/Ex-Sm/Transgender/Minorities/Economically Backward: This fee of Rs 250 shall be refunded duly deducting bank charges as applicable on appearing in 1st Stage CBT.

  2. 10th certificate or ITI certificate for educational qualification proof.
  3. Government-issued ID proof (Aadhar Card, PAN Card, etc.).

Steps to Apply for Railway RRB Group D Recruitment 2026

Follow the steps outlined below to successfully submit your online application for the RRB Group D 2026 recruitment.

  1. Visit the official website http://www.rrbcdg.gov.in/.
  2. Click on the ‘New Registration’ link.
  3. Register for the exam and submit the required details like name, date of birth and father’s name, mother’s name, Aadhaar Number, SSLC/Matric registration number, year of passing, mobile number, email ID and then submit the registration form.
  4. Upon registration, candidates need to verify their email ID and mobile number through OTP.
  5. Login on the home page using the registration number and password.
  6. In Part I of the application page, candidates had to provide the details of educational qualification, community, gender, religion, Ex-Servicemen, CCAA, Minority, Economically Backward Class Age Relaxation and other details.
  7. In Part II of the application page, candidates had to indicate his/her priority/preference for the posts.
  8. On completion of application details, candidates were redirected to the payment page using Online Net Banking/Credit Card/Debit Card/UPI and Offline Challan.
  9. Candidates were required to choose the exam language.
  10. Candidates had to fill in the details of a valid photo ID card.
  11. Enter bank details to get the refund of fees.
  12. Candidates had to upload their scanned images of photographs and signatures as per the format and SC/ST candidates were required to upload the category certificates.
  13. Candidates had to agree to the terms and conditions and submit the application form.

Selection Process

The RRB Group D selection process consists of the following stages:

  1. Computer-Based Test- CBT will assess your knowledge in various subjects like Mathematics, General Intelligence & Reasoning, and General Awareness.
  2. Physical Efficiency Test- PET is designed to evaluate your physical fitness and includes tests like running, long jump, and high jump.
  3. Medical Examination- A medical examination will also be conducted to assess your overall health and fitness for the job.
  4. Document Verification- To ensure that all the information provided in your application is accurate.

Exam Pattern

The Railway Administration may conduct the Computer Based Test (CBT) in single or multi-stage mode. Successful candidates proceed to the Physical Efficiency Test (PET), followed by Document Verification and a Medical Examination. Note: A negative marking of 1/3rd applies for each incorrect answer.

Minimum qualifying marks for shortlisting: UR and EWS (40%), and OBC-NCL/SC/ST (30%).

Salary Structure

The base salary for RRB Group D posts is Rs 18,000. In addition to basic pay, employees receive allowances such as DA, HRA, Transport Allowance, and Night Duty pay. Expected in-hand salary ranges from Rs 22,500 to Rs 25,380 per month.
