What is SSC Sliding Mechanism?
Annually, numerous selected candidates opt out of Document Verification or choose not to join their allocated positions, leading to vacant government posts. The Sliding Mechanism effectively addresses this by reallocating these unfilled positions to the next eligible and willing candidates in a single, streamlined round. The primary objectives of this mechanism are to maximize vacancy fulfillment within each examination cycle, ensure fair and merit-based opportunities for all candidates, and significantly reduce the number of unfilled vacancies resulting from absenteeism, all through a single reallocation phase.
Step-by-Step: How SSC CGL Sliding Mechanism Process Works?
The crucial slot booking window for SSC CGL 2025 qualified candidates is now open. Visit www.ssc.gov.in immediately to secure your slot. Please follow the detailed step-by-step procedure outlined below.
Step 1- Book Your Slot Online
- Log in to the SSC Candidate Portal at www.ssc.gov.in.
- Only qualified candidates will see the option: “Identity Verification / Sliding Venue Details”.
- Choose your preferred City/State, date, and time slot.
- There are 4 daily slots: 9:00 AM, 11:00 AM, 2:00 PM, and 4:00 PM.
- Slots are first-come, first-served — green means available, red means full.
- Once booked, the slot cannot be changed.
Step 2- Visit the Regional Office for Identity Verification
- Physically go to your chosen SSC Regional Office on your booked date.
- Carry your original Aadhaar card and the printed slot confirmation slip.
- Verification involves: a live photo capture, Aadhaar biometric authentication, and fingerprint matching.
- Bring the mobile number that is registered in your application form- you’ll need it for the Aadhaar OTP.
Step 3- Choose FIX or FLOAT
Upon arrival at the designated venue, you will be required to formally declare one of the following two options in writing:
FIX: You confirm acceptance of your current allotment as final, foregoing any potential upgrades. This choice ensures stability and finality.
FLOAT: You opt to be considered for a potentially better or higher-preference post if vacancies become available. This selection keeps your options open for advancement.
Step 4 – The Sliding Round
- After Identity Verification, SSC identifies all seats left vacant due to absenteeism.
- It then conducts one single sliding round- reallocating those vacancies to FLOAT candidates based on merit and preference order.
Step 5- Final Result
SSC will subsequently publish a revised final result reflecting any post allocation changes and dispatch e-dossiers to the respective departments for appointment processing. This final result is binding for all candidates.
Consequences of Non-Appearance for the Sliding Process:
Candidates who do not report to their Regional Office within the designated 10-day window will be marked as absent. Such non-compliance may lead to the forfeiture of their candidature from further consideration in the selection process.
